Why Choose Star Marquees for Wedding Marquee Hire?
Expert Support From Start to Finish
One team handles your marquee, flooring, lighting, and furniture — you're not chasing three different suppliers to get one day to line up. From your first site visit to the final piece being packed away, the same people know your event, so nothing gets lost between handovers.
Yorkshire's Trusted Wedding Marquee Team
We're based here and we work here — the ground, the wind off the Pennines, the access roads that look fine on a map and aren't. That's local knowledge you build over years, not something you can fake with a good brochure.
Fully Insured and Accredited
Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life, so reliability matters. We carry full public liability insurance and install every marquee with safety and professionalism at the forefront. Our experienced team follows industry best practices to ensure every structure is secure, stable and ready for your celebration.
Built for Real Yorkshire Weather
Everything's designed to actually handle a wet Yorkshire afternoon, not just look good in the brochure photos. Groundworks, guttering, and weighting are done properly, whatever the forecast does on the day.
What Types of Wedding Marquees Are Available?
Clearspan Marquee Hire
No poles inside, so nothing gets in the way of the dance floor or the top table. This tends to be the go-to for anyone who wants one open space that can flex between ceremony, dinner and dancing.
Frame Marquee Hire
These can go up on grass, gravel, or a patio, which makes them the practical choice when the ground isn’t ideal for a traditional pole tent.
Stretch Tent Hire
If you’re picturing something softer and less formal – flowing fabric, an open, airy shape – stretch tents suit boho or festival-style weddings particularly well.
Winter Marquee Hire
Autumn and winter weddings need proper insulation and heating built in from the start, not bolted on as an afterthought. That’s exactly what these are designed for.
Small Marquee Hire
Not every wedding needs a big top. If you’re after something intimate – a garden ceremony, a smaller reception – a compact marquee still gives you that proper marquee feel without swallowing the space.
Large Marquee Hire
Once you’re past 150 guests, you need the room to actually move – a proper dining layout, a separate bar, space for the evening crowd. Our large structures are built for that scale.
How to Choose the Right Wedding Marquee
Start with numbers. Get your guest list roughly confirmed, then think about how you want the day to run – one open space for everything, or separate zones for the ceremony, meal and dancing.
Then look at the site itself. Grass, gravel, or patio changes what structure works. So does access for our vehicles and how close you are to a power source. This is why we’d rather see photos or visit in person before quoting – guessing at this stage tends to cause problems later.
Season matters too. A summer wedding might want an open clearspan with sides you can roll up when it’s warm. A winter one needs insulation and heating planned in from day one, not added as an afterthought once the marquee’s already booked. If none of this is obvious yet, that’s fine – talk to us and we’ll point you toward what actually suits your venue and guest count.

Wedding Marquee Sizes & Capacity
Sizing is really just a guest-count problem with a few extra variables thrown in. Rough guide:
- 4m x 6m suits around 30 guests – good for a small garden wedding.
- 6m x 9m seats up to about 60, a common size for mid-sized receptions.
- 9m x 9m fits up to 90, with enough room left for a dance floor and bar.
- Beyond that, our larger clearspan and frame structures join together in sections to seat 150, 200, or more, depending how much extra space you need for a stage or dance floor.
We don’t just work off headcount, though. A top table, a dance floor, a bar area – they all eat into the space, so we factor those in before recommending a size.
Wedding Marquee FAQs
Honestly, not much. Our marquees are built to keep rain out properly, with secure groundworks and waterproof roofing. Guests stay dry and a lot of couples end up saying the rain made the day feel cosier, not worse.
9 to 12 months is a safe bet, especially for a Saturday between May and September – those dates go first. If you’re closer to your date than that, still get in touch. We sometimes have gaps.
Usually not, if it’s a temporary structure on private land for a few days. Rules do vary a bit by council, though, so it’s worth mentioning your site to us and we’ll flag anything you need to check.
It depends on the marquee, the size and what you add to it – flooring, lighting, furniture and so on. Smaller packages start in the low hundreds; larger, fully styled weddings can run into the thousands. Get in touch and we’ll give you a proper quote based on your guest numbers, not a vague ballpark.
Yes. It’s one of the most common requests we get. We’ll come and look at your garden or field, check the ground and access and tell you honestly what size and type of marquee will actually work there.
